A high-quality mattress is an investment in your health and deep sleep. To ensure it stays supportive, clean, and comfortable for years to come, follow these essential care guidelines.
1. Support & Installation
Use a Proper Frame: Ensure your bed frame has a sturdy center support beam (especially for Queen and King sizes) and solid, unyielding slats. Slats should be no more than 3 inches apart to prevent sagging.
Give it Breathing Room: When unboxing a new mattress, let it air out in a well-ventilated room for a few hours before putting on sheets. This helps dissipate any harmless “new mattress” odors.
2. Routine Maintenance
Rotate Regularly: Rotate your mattress head-to-toe every 3 to 6 months. This ensures even wear and prevents body impressions from forming in one permanent spot. (Note: Do not flip your mattress unless it is explicitly designed as a double-sided model).
Always Use a Protector: A high-quality, breathable, waterproof mattress protector is your best defense against spills, sweat, dust mites, and allergens. It is much easier to wash a protector than to clean a mattress.
Don’t Jump on the Bed: It sounds obvious, but rough impact can damage the interior spring structures or shift the foam layers permanently.
3. Cleaning & Stain Removal
Vacuum Seasonally: Every few months, strip the bed completely and vacuum the top and sides of the mattress using the upholstery attachment to remove dust and skin cells.
Spot Clean Spills Fast: If a spill occurs, blot it immediately with a clean, dry towel. Never soak the mattress with water or liquid cleaners, as trapped moisture inside foam or springs can cause mold.
Deodorize with Baking Soda: To freshen the mattress, sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda over the surface. Let it sit for 30–60 minutes to absorb odors, then vacuum it up completely.
